Bieschke, Donald J. 82, of Round Lake Beach, formerly of Grayslake and Chicago, passed away peacefully, Friday, January 25, 2013. Donald was born September 18, 1930, in Chicago, IL to George and Clara (nee Korosacke) Bieschke. He proudly served the Korean war in the United States Army. He enjoyed bowling, was very religious, a kind, loving, caring, genuine, person to everyone he met. Known as a "Gentle Giant." Donald is survived by many dear nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews and his sister-in-law, Sally. Also, by many other dear relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Audrey; his parents; his brother, George; and twin sister, Delores. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, January 29, and again Wednesday, January 30, from 8:30 a.m. until time of prayers said at 9 a.m. at K. K. Hamsher Funeral Home 12 N. Pistakee Lake Rd., Fox Lake, then processing to St. Bede Church 36455 N. Wilson Rd., Ingleside for 10 a.m. Funeral Mass. Interment Queen of Heaven Cemetery, 1400 S. Wolf Rd., Hillside. All are invited to meet at the cemetery office by 12:30 p.m. for the committal service. Masses in memory of Donald would be greatly appreciated.

Leonard Barringhaus 94, was a resident Village of Victory Lakes in Lindenhurst. He was born in Treloar, Missouri to Frank and Matilda Barringhaus. Leonard was a World War II veteran having served for the Navy. Leonard was a member of St. Gilbert Catholic Church in Grayslake, Knights of Columbus, and the Exchange Club of Grayslake. He was retired from International Harvester where he worked as a mechanical engineer. He is survived by his stepchildren, Russell (Maureen) Combs and Cathy (Lynn) O’Dell; six grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and siblings, Ruth Barringhaus, Sister Mary Francita Barringhaus, Norma Schraut, Roselyn Barringhaus, Donald (Faye) Barringhaus and Ralph (Helga) Barringhaus. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ula Combs, second wife, Lois Barringhaus, son, Robert Barringhaus, stepson, Tom (Sharon) Combs and grandson, Stephen Combs. visitation and funeral service was held at Strang Funeral Chapel & Crematorium 410 E. Belvidere Rd. Grayslake, IL 60030. Interment followed at Ascension Catholic Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association 225 N. Michigan Ave. Ste 1700 Chicago, IL 60601.

Walter W. Burns, age 76 of Grayslake, IL, died at home on Wednesday, October 10, 2012. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Georgiana (Closs) Burns, three sons, Alan (Eeva), Glenn (Vicki) and Scott (Jessica), and seven grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to St. Joseph's Indian School, Chamberlain, SD 57326.

A resident of Grayslake for 33 years, passed away Tuesday, March 6, 2012 at Advocate Condell Hospital. He was a long-time employee of Abbott Laboratories where he served as Treasurer, C & E Europe, CIS and Israel. He was a life-long Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears fan, survived the Our Lady of Angels fire in Chicago in 1958, and was a member of the Grayslake Knights of Columbus Precious Blood Council #9689. There was no greater joy in Ed's life than being with people, loving them and being loved in return. Ed is the beloved husband of 37 years to Susan, nee Wolter; loving father of Patrick; dear brother of Lenore, Joan Polishak, John (Carol), and the late Dorothy Anderson; and cherished uncle, brother-in-law, and cousin to a large and loving extended family. No one was a stranger to Ed whose great warmth and giving nature was rewarded by many kind and loyal friends. George Gruber, age 90, passed away Friday, April 3, 2015 at his home. He was born on June 27, 1924 in Chicago, IL to Charles and Elsie Gruber. He was a veteran of World War II having served for the US Army and a member of the Grayslake American Legion. George graduated from Sign School and worked as a sign painter, as a milkman for Spinney Run Farms in Libertyville for over 30 years, and as a janitor for Magee Middle School in Round Lake and College of Lake County, and was a volunteer Grayslake Police Officer. George was a member and volunteer, as a minister of care for the sick, of St. Gilbert Church and a volunteer and minister of care for St. Therese Hospital and Winchester House. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Antioch Moose Lodge. George is survived by his wife of 68 years, Mary, his children, James (Paula) Gruber, Eileen (Jim) Siwula, Gerard (Jackie) Gruber, and George Gruber Jr., his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, his sister Imelda Thome, and his numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Mary Ann, his sons Gregory and Eugene, and his 2 brothers and 1 sister. Friends of the family had visitation on Sat, April 11, 2015 at St. Gilbert Catholic Church, Grayslake, IL with the funeral mass at the church. Interment followed at Ascension Cemetery. Arrangements were entrusted to Strang Funeral Chapel & Crematorium, Grayslake, IL 60030.

Michael P. Gutjahr, 50, passed away October 23, 2011 at his home in Gurnee, Illinois. He was born March 24, 1961 in Cincinnati Ohio. Michael was a parishioner at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church for 13 years, was a Eucharistic Minister, assistant for SPREAD, and belonged to the Knights of Columbus. Loving husband of 20 years to Faye Pickett; beloved father to Nicole Ray; son to Adam and Carol Gutjahr of Lowell, IN; son-in-law to Barbara and the late Ray Pickett; brother of Rick(James Smith) Gutjahr, Bonnie(Michael) McCormick, Jerry(Kathleen) Gutjahr, Julie(Ken) Olovich, Doug(Carol) Gutjahr, and Valerie(Tim) Dickens; 17 nieces and nephews.

Carl L. Kendall, a resident of Grayslake, passed away Monday November 19, 2012 at Condell in Libertyville, IL, at the age of 88. He was born November 6, 1924 in South Haven, Michigan to Wynn and Anna (nee: Lauman) Kendall. Carl was a member of the Brotherhood of Union Carpenters and was a World War II veteran having served with the US Army in the Philippines. Carl is survived by his wife of 15 years, Eileen, whom he wed on February 15, 1997 in Grayslake, IL, his sons Steve (Patti) Kendall and David (Kim) Kendall, his grandchildren Patrick (Sara), Stephanie, Derek, Dana, and Nicole, his 2 great-grandchildren, his step-children Ramona Buquet, Kathy Buquet, Lory (Dan) Porter, Rich (Carolyn) Buquet, and Karen (Mike) Brockman, 21 step-grandchildren, 15 step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers. Friends of the family may visit on Sunday November 25, 2012 from 4:00pm until 8:00pm at Strang Funeral Chapel & Crematorium 410 E. The funeral Mass was held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 3, at St. Gilbert Catholic Church. Interment was held privately. Mr. Marcell passed away peacefully on the morning of Tuesday, Aug. 31, 2010. He was reunited in heaven with his loving wife of 37 years, Patricia C. Marcell, who passed away in 2007. William was a longtime resident of Grayslake, a passionate car enthusiast, and an active member of St. Gilbert Church for 40 years. He is survived by his children, Cynthia (Craig) Vandermolen of DeForest, Wis., William H. Marcell of Fox Lake and Dr. Catherine (John LaBelle) Marcell; his grandchildren, Brian C. Scott, Daniel (Tara) Scott and Nicholas Scott; his great-grandchild, Adalynn Scott; and his brother-in-law, Robert Kapustka. Leo A. Meyer, a resident of Grayslake passed away Saturday, January 3, 2009 at Condell Medical Center in Libertyville at the age of 91. He was born April 29, 1917 in Alta Vista, IA to the late Cora and Leo Meyer.

Leo was one of the last dairy farmers in Warren Township and was a member of the Lake County Farm Bureau. He was a member of St. Gilbert Church, a member of the Knights of Columbus, and an usher for over 50 years at the church.

Leo was devoted to faith, family, and farming. He was a loving, kind, caring, and devoted husband and father with a strong work ethic, truly a "Mr. Fix-It".

Leo is survived by his daughters. Jeanette (George) Jankuski of Plymouth, WI, Phyllis (Paul) Steffan of Grayslake, Dorothy (Mark) Christiansen of Lake Mills, WI, Corinne (Walter) Giernoth of Grayslake, and June (John) Handrow of Hartford, WI; his son, James Meyer of Beaver Dam, WI; his 16 grandchildren; his 15 great-grandchildren; his brother, Joseph Meyer of Chandler, AZ; and his good friend, Rose Bauer.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife. Josephine; his sister, Sabina Burnett; and his grandson, Jacob Meyer.

A funeral mass was held on Tuesday, January 6, 2009 at St. Gilbert Catholic Church.  Final resting at Ascension Cemetery in Libertyville. Memorial contributions went to masses in Leo's name at St. Gilberts.

Philipp age 75 of Grayslake formerly of Wheeling.  Beloved husband of Roberta “Bobbi” Philipp nee Luecker for 51 years.  Loving Dad of Ken (Kim) Philipp, Dave Philipp, Julie (Mike) Powell, Jenny (Steve) Provis and Patti (Jonathan) Wilson.  Cherished grandpa of Tim, Jonathan, Bradley, Brian, Danny, Stephanie, Jake, Savannah, Luke, Emma and Colton.  Fond brother of Madeline (late Joe) Samec, Francis Philipp, the late Henry (late Hilda) Philipp and late Al (late Audrey) Philipp.  Dear uncle and great uncle of many.

Paul served many dedicated years at St. Joseph the Worker as Eucharistic Minister, an Usher, a Bingo Caller, and Family Fest Director.  His service extended to the community as a Wheeling Park District Commissioner for 10 years and was also a very active member of Knights of Columbus at St. Gilbert’s, Grayslake.
